Caernarfon, Anglesey & BeaumarisOur day begins in Caernarfon, an ancient Celtic town where the main attraction is undoubtedly the imposing castle. Built by Edward I in the thirteenth century, it remains one of Wales’s most prized architectural treasures with its octagonal towers and drawbridge. We proceed across the Menai Bridge to Anglesey where we pause at Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch – a village best known for having the longest place name in Europe! A stop in Beaumaris completes our day, where attractions include a seventeenth century court house museum and another of Edward I’s ambitious fortresses - Beaumaris Castle.
Llanberis Lake RailwayAll aboard our narrow gauge steam train to relish the timeless charm along with the magnificence of Snowdonia. Our nostalgic journey takes us alongside Lake Padarn, past thirteenth century Dolbadarn Castle and next to the glassy waters of Llanberis’ twin lakes. We proceed through Padarn Country Park, joining the 1845 slate railway route and enjoying breathtaking views of Snowdon. Our vintage steam train stops at Gilfach Ddu, where you can visit the National Slate Museum or spend time at the gift shop and café.

WestportThis lovely Georgian town is home to glorious churches, quaint avenues, a heritage centre and leafy forest walks. Perhaps visit Westport House, one of Ireland’s best loved heritage attractions, it features sumptuously furnished period rooms, formal gardens, an aviary, mini railway and a sparkling lake with pedalos.
Rose of InnisfreeWe head to historic Parke’s Castle to board the Rose of Innisfree tour boat for a scenic sail on Lough Gill, taking in some of the spectacular scenery described so fondly by poet, W B Yeats.
Carrick-on-ShannonKnown as the cruising capital of Shannon and Mullingar, this colourful riverside town is one of the Emerald Isle’s most cosmopolitan communities. It boasts a modern marina and gives easy access to the mighty River Shannon and its glassy lakes.
