Day One.We make our way to the north and check into the Dornoch Hotel for our three night stay.
Day Two. We visit the Highland capital of Inverness where attractions include a stately riverside castle, gothic cathedral and the Ness Islands bridge linked walkways. Then onwards to the Glenmorangie distillery by the tranquil shores of the Dornoch Firth.
Day Three. A free day to explore our seaside resort of Dornoch. The town is home to sandy beaches, a thirteenth century cathedral and a championship golf course as well as nesting birds and a colony of seals.
Day Four. We say cheerio to Dornoch and make our way across the Highlands to the village of Lairg, home to quaint shops and cafés. Then onwards to the fishing village of Ullapool known for its beautiful location. We continue to Gairloch and check in to our hotel for our three night stay.
Day Five. Today’s treat is a leg of the famed North Coast 500 route. We pass amazing beaches, scenery and sea views as we journey north along the coastal road to the small fishing port of Lochinver. Sitting in a sheltered bay on the edge of the loch this charming village is home to Highland Stoneware pottery and the Assynt Visitor Centre and Museum. We continue north to the remote crofting village of Drumbeg with its magnificent views of the northern seascape before looping back to Gairloch.
Day Six. We visit the mystical Isle of Skye which is renowned for its natural beauty, history and wildlife. We call at the island’s capital Portree, situated on the east coast overlooking a sheltered bay. Perhaps browse the array of gift and book shops, take a stroll or stop for a hot drink at one of the many restaurants or cafés.
Day Seven. After breakfast we bid farewell to Wester Ross and stop for lunch on our way home
